IMG_4512Earth Hour, a global campaign that highlights the threat of climate change in the environment was faithfully supported by the Philippines, who had the highest registered participation last March 28, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. till 9:30 p.m.

Phone lines were kept busy as media called Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, the highest hotel tower in Cebu for a chance to catch a glimpse at this once in a lifetime event at the 37th and 38th Floors. At the strike of the clock at 8:30 in the evening, the hotel’s façade lights were turned off submerging the hotel’s beauty into a state of partial oblivion.

Unlike all the other issues that we constantly face in our day to day life, climate change is global. The pressure is on us to do the right thing. An hour of switching off the lights may not portray a drastic change in the global environment, but the fact that millions of people advocated such a momentous event proves that we are putting the pressure on ourselves to do the right thing.
